To be honest, Facebook certainly has the potential. Google is a potent tool when it comes to spreading information, but Facebook is a potent tool when it comes to networking. Humans are social animals, and as much as i wish it were not this way, but information is not our top priority. Additionally social networking can help control information. Thusly, if played right, Facebook could absolutely control the internet.

I have to agree Tom… Google Buzz has been a failure IMHO, and FB, being equal to one of the top 5 populations in the world, has quite a bit of leverage right now!
Hopefully, they realize the power at hand and play safe.
It won’t break my heart to see someone come along and challenge Google.
