The Obama Administration has started looking into the credit card lenders and their less than friendly practice of reliving the fine print on credit card applications.

There appears to be a fairly narrow split on whether this is supported by consumers or not. Those on one side of the aisle say: You, the Consumer, should have read the print a bit further and known ahead of time how your personal credit would be effected if certain conditions occur. Over on the other side, people are crying foul play from the credit card companies with all sorts of horror stories about accounts being closed, rates doubling after 1 late payment etc.

This week, President Obama is planning to release an all new Foreclosure Plan, designed to help stem the flooding of foreclosures and bankruptcies in this struggling economy. According to the Mortgage Bankers Association, there was a record number 2.3 million home foreclosures in the US. That figure is more than double the volume from 2006 and key indicators show it is only going to worsen, much sooner than it will ever turn around!

A Few Keys to the New Obama Foreclosure Plan

One of the most important and likely positive keys to the new foreclosure plan, is that our Government will subsidize mortgage payments along with the banks who own your note! That’s right… Along with a reduced interest rate, the lenders will be asked to kick in a little toward your house payment and the taxpayers will match the same amount!

Along with the newly subsidized mortgages, the Obama Foreclosure Plan also calls for a Restructuring of the Current Bankruptcy Laws, allowing the Judge to modify your mortgage on the fly and be excluded from the settlement! Under current laws, once you file for bankruptcy protection, your home loan cannot be modified! As you can imagine, banks and lenders are not too keen about this idea, since homeowners can realistically just go broke, and not be held liable to their obligations!

What do You Think about the New Foreclosure Plan?

As mentioned earlier this week, the CitiBank purchase of a $50 Million Dollar Corporate Jet, was drawing quite a bit of unwelcome attention! At the Huffington Post this morning, it looks like the Obama Administration took notice and Told Citibank to Ditch the Plane Plans, as it sends the wrong message to taxpayers!

Lets Welcome the US Government into our Homes

Sure, this may be the first example of the Obama administration standing up to corporate powerhouses and flexing its muscle, but what if they don’t stop there? What if they start telling every business or Individual who receive some form of federal support, how to run their own ships? Do they have the right? Do we really want them to?

After they see they can dictate how businesses run… you can bet they will be in our homes, criticizing our household spending next!

What do you think about this new Government Control?
